What is a Mumper? PDF Print E-mail
The Oxford English Dictionary has a list of definitions for 'mump', none of which is really anything to do with the question! As we understand it, a 'mumper' is a human being, male or female, who enjoys good music, dance, and having fun. So it's probably someone rather like you!

What's a "Mumpers Guest Ceilidh"? PDF Print E-mail
Mumpers Guest Ceilidhs feature a guest band, and whenever possible additional entertainment such as folk song, morris, or story telling.

What's a "Mumpers Own Ceilidh"? PDF Print E-mail
Mumpers Own Ceilidhs are a bit different. Anyone is welcome to bring an instrument to join one of our resident bands, Fish'n'Taters or ContrabanD, in playing for dancing. If you have other talents to bring - singing? juggling? calling? - then please do so!

Is Mumpers a dance club? PDF Print E-mail
Hmmm. Well, there's always dancing at Mumpes ceilidhs - but then there are often other things as well. Mumpers isn't purely a dance club, and in fact we'd like it to continue to grow into a wider experience of folk arts generally.

Can I bring my own musical instrument? PDF Print E-mail
Provided you can play it(!), yes - to any Mumpers Own Ceilidh. The resident bands will welcome additional musicians, who for their part will be expected to play as part of the band and accept the musical direction of the night's resident band. It may well be worth coming along to one of our Musician's Workshops as well - see the Diary for dates.
